EV Charging and Electrical Equipment

Equipment applications require a system-level review. Surface treatment is only one variable alongside internal heat generation, airflow, controls, duty cycle, and manufacturer requirements.

The common heat challenge

Solar exposure can add heat to outdoor cabinets and equipment housings that already contain internal heat sources.

Preliminary note: Technical review required for housing material, internal heat load, ventilation, operating limits, and qualification needs.

Separate solar load from internal load

A coating may address solar energy absorbed at the housing, but it does not remove internally generated heat. Both sources should be understood before a project is evaluated.

Ventilation changes the result

Natural or forced airflow, filter condition, cabinet geometry, and equipment spacing influence internal temperature. These variables belong in the technical review.

Qualification remains project-specific

RGS does not claim that a coating guarantees equipment safety, prevents failure, or extends service life. Any such outcome would require appropriate product and project evidence.

Indicators of potential fit

  • The enclosure material and finish are known
  • Solar exposure is a meaningful part of the heat load
  • Operating conditions can be documented
  • The equipment owner can define evaluation criteria

Conditions requiring technical review

  • Unknown internal heat generation or ventilation path
  • Manufacturer restrictions or safety qualification requirements
  • High-voltage access or shutdown constraints
  • Chemical, coastal, or severe corrosion exposure
