Application review

Industrial Assets and Infrastructure

Industrial assets place additional demands on the coating system. Geometry, operating temperature, chemicals, corrosion protection, shutdown windows, and maintenance access should be reviewed together.

Industrial material surface showing weathering and substrate condition

The common heat challenge

Exposed containers, tanks, cabinets, housings, and selected pipelines can absorb solar heat under demanding service conditions.

Typical surface: Prepared metal and selected concrete or masonry assets

Preliminary note: Technical review required for substrate, geometry, service temperature, chemistry, corrosion category, and access.

Geometry affects application

Edges, welds, supports, penetrations, curvature, and inaccessible areas influence preparation, film build, inspection, and maintenance planning.

Service environment defines the system

Temperature, chemicals, coastal exposure, abrasion, and corrosion category may determine whether the current coating architecture is appropriate.

Access is part of specification

A technically compatible surface still requires workable preparation, application, inspection, repair, and future maintenance access.

Indicators of potential fit

  • The asset and substrate are documented
  • Service temperature falls within approved limits
  • Exposure and corrosion requirements are known
  • Preparation and maintenance access are feasible

Conditions requiring technical review

  • Immersion, aggressive chemicals, or unknown contamination
  • Process temperatures outside published limits
  • Complex geometry or inaccessible surfaces
  • Critical corrosion-control or shutdown requirements

Information needed for review

Provide enough context for RGS to identify known fit, unresolved conditions, and the next appropriate technical step.

  • Asset type, dimensions, and geometry
  • Substrate and existing coating
  • Normal and maximum service temperature
  • Chemical and corrosion exposure
  • Access, shutdown, and maintenance constraints
